Cobra Kai spoilers follow.

Cobra Kai star Dallas Dupree Young has teased what to expect from his character Kenny Payne in season 5, admitting he is in "danger" of going too far.

The character has had quite the journey on the Netflix series, having initially suffered from bullying before turning to Cobra Kai to defend himself – though becomes a bit of a bully himself in the process.

Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy about what to expect next season, Young teased: "He's definitely in danger of [going too far]. I mean, look at the past history with Cobra Kai. They always go a little too far. So he's definitely in danger of going too far.

"He is an intense competitor. He's all in with Cobra Kai and Terry Silver's leadership, and you just saw him really hurt Anthony LaRusso in a difficult way back in season four. So you'll pretty much just see him grow and continue to develop throughout the entirety of season five."

After being bullied by Anthony in season 4, Kenny has in turn taken his anger out on him, with Young admitting that his character has become "fully immersed in that Cobra Kai mentality".

"He has that leadership from Terry Silver, so he has that mindset and I think he's so angry at Anthony LaRusso just because Kenny got the strength to be able to fight back, so that's his mentality all the time towards Anthony LaRusso," he said.

"So whenever they have a battle, he's only thinking about what happened in season four, and what I can basically tease about season five, you'll continue to see their rivalry grow and the tension is going to be higher than ever. The stakes are higher than ever."

Kenny was initially taken under the wing of Robbie, before fighting against each other in the All-Valley tournament, which Kenny lost – though Robbie has since become disillusioned with Cobra Kai and Silver.

"The relationship [with Robbie] is definitely complex," Young went on to explain. "He really, after the whole battle from season four, he really felt like Robbie embarrassed him in front of a whole entire audience and pretty much the whole entire valley.

"So there you see the relationship continue to grow as far as tension, and it's going to be interesting to see what they do later on."

Cobra Kai returns to Netflix on September 9 for its fifth season.
