Resident Evil star Lance Reddick has responded to Netflix cancelling the series.
The streaming giant shared the news over the weekend that it would not be picking up a second season of the video game adaptation after it received poor reviews from critics and fans.
Lance Reddick, who plays the cloned reincarnation of franchise baddie Albert Wesker, had a message of thanks for those Resident Evil fans who did love the show.

While thanking the "fearless leaders" of the cast and crew, the actor said in an Instagram post: "As all of you are well aware by now, our show Resident Evil on Netflix has been canceled.

"And the haters and the trolls notwithstanding, I want to give a special thank you to all the fans who watched the show, got what we were doing, and really loved it because there are a hell of a lot of you."
He also tweeted: "We worked our asses off. We had a great time. And we made a helluva show. Thank you, onward and upward."
This latest adaptation of the horror survival games failed to impress when it launched in July. As of now, Resident Evil has a 55% critical score on Rotten Tomatoes and a much lower 26% percent from viewers.
Resident Evil did briefly dethrone Stranger Things as the most-watched Netflix show, but fell down the chart in the weeks following its debut in July.
With a franchise as popular as Resident Evil, it shouldn't take long for it to rebooted once again as a TV show or movie. Maybe they'll get it right next time!
