Better Call Saul may have only just wrapped up, but bob Odenkirk has already found his next project in a comedy called Straight Man.

He'll be playing Hank, the head of an English department in an underfunded college who is fed up with his students and has plenty of unresolved family issues. Now the show cast has its female lead to star opposite him.

As reported by Deadline, The Killing actress Mireille Enos has been cast as Hank's wife Lily, the vice principal of a local school. Although described as emotionally grounded, she will start to question her life choices and begin to explore other opportunities, while balancing it with trying to provide support for her husband and daughter.

Aaron Zelman, who wrote and produced The Killing, and The Office US actor/producer Paul Lieberstein are serving as showrunners for the project, and in a statement they said: "We could not be more thrilled to have Mireille on board to play Lily.

"She brings with her a steamer trunk full of dramatic chops, an unflinching eagerness to explore character, and a megawatt smile that absolutely lights up every Zoom. She’s a delight."

As well as Straight Man, it looks like Odenkirk could be returning to make a sequel to his blackly-comic ultra-violent action movie Nobody.

"We are working on making that happen. Universal has been very upbeat and welcoming. Derek [Kolstad, screenwriter] and I have talked story. It's not a sure thing yet, but we're working on it. I think the signs point to yes."

Straight Man is expected to air on AMC in the US.
