House of the Dragon episode two spoilers follow.
Crabfeeder is a name that has been floated around since the members of Viserys' court first clocked in to their council in episode one.
Up until now, Crabfeeder has been a pretty low-level irritation, however he is the source of contention between Viserys (Paddy Considine) and his cousin-in-law Lord Corlys Velaryon (Steve Toussaint).
Corlys believes that Crabfeeder has been allowed to lawlessly amass power on the Stepstones islands. He sees this not only as a threat to Westeros but fears his House (Driftmark) has been made vulnerable by Crabfeeder's unchallenged seizure, claiming that if the Stepstones fall, his Driftmark will be in jeopardy.
Viserys has shrugged off Corlys' concerns in favour of peace and so the issue has been rumbling quietly under the surface as other matters have taken precedence.
However, things are set to erupt now that disinherited prince Daemon (Matt Smith) and the scorned Lord Corlys appear to have teamed up to conquer the Stepstones by the close of episode two.
What to Read Next
With a battle seemingly imminent, it's about time we find out who Crabfeeder is.
Who is Crabfeeder on House of the Dragon?
Not much is known about Crabfeeder so far, besides the fact that he resembles someone with a variation of greyscale and has a penchant for filling crabs' bellies with the live bodies of his foes.
However, if you pay close attention, there are nuggets of information shared that give us clues as to who he is. It's been stated that he is in control of the Triarchy (an army formed from the alliance of the Free Cities of Myr, Lys and Tyrosh) and Corlys refers to him as a prince, but all this amounts to a pretty blurry picture of the tyrant running rampant on the Stepstones. So we've done a little digging.
Crabfeeder's real name is Craghas Drahar, the Myrish prince-admiral of the Triarchy. An alliance was formed between the Myr and the cities Lys and Tyrosh when they defeated the Volantene army in the Battle of the Borderland and invaded the Stepstones.
In the book, Craghas' conquering of the islands from pirates and outlaws was initially welcomed by the crown, happy to turn a blind eye as he committed atrocities.
Craghas ordered hundreds of pirates to be staked out on beaches to drown in the rising tide. Their bodies, alive or dead, became the crabs' feast, earning him the name of Crabfeeder.
The Westeros Lords were compliant in paying the Triarchy's toll for safe passage until greed got the better of them.
Lord Corlys and his house were most affected by these tolls, which marries the House of the Dragon story with that on the page.
Major potential spoiler alert
The following reveals the outcome of the Stepstones battles in the books so look away now if you don't want potential spoilers for House of the Dragon.
The alliance between Lord Corlys and Prince Daemon results in a two-year battle between their armies and that of the Triarchy. Eventually Crabfeeder and his followers are defeated and the prince-admiral is beheaded by Daemon, who wields the Valyrian steel longsword Dark Sister.
Events from the page may vary as the story makes its transition to screen. If so, Crabfeeder could meet another fate or at the very least embark on a different journey before he meets his doom under the blade of Dark Sister. The only way to know is to keep watching!
