Better Call Saul's Bob Odenkirk shares emotional farewell video

Better Call Saul spoilers follow.

Better Call Saul wrapped up its sixth and final season, bringing the story that started with Breaking Bad all the way back in 2008 to a close (at least for now).

Bob Odenkirk, who started off in the original show before leading the prequel/spin-off as Jimmy McGill/Saul Goodman/Gene Takavic, shared an emotional video to his Twitter page after the finale aired on August 15, thanking the creators, the cast and crew for their hard work, as well as the fans for their support over the years.

"I want to thank [the show's creators] Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould for giving me the chance. I did nothing to deserve this part, but I hope I earned it over six seasons," he said.

"The cast around me: Rhea Seehorn, Michael McKean, Jonathan Banks, Tony Dalton, Michael Mando, Patrick Fabian and everyone else. I mean, Giancarlo Esposito. They all made me a better actor than I am. Just working them, or watching them work, it's been an unbelievable experience."

After also thanking the people who worked behind the scenes on the show, Odenkirk talked about how humbled he was that people took the spin-off to their hearts.

"We came out of, maybe, a lot of people's favourite show ever and we could've been hated for simply trying to do a show. But we weren't, we were given a chance and hopefully we made the most of it."

The final episode, which jumped back and forth in time to reference scenes from both shows, saw our titular character in court following his arrest. At first, Saul wanted to make out like Walter White has forced him to work for him, but Jimmy's original persona returned at the last minute and confessed to his crimes.

Although he was sentenced to spend the rest of his life in prison, it seemed like he had saved his soul in the end.

Better Call Saul aired on AMC in the US and on Netflix in the UK.
