Power: Raising Kanan lead Mekai Curtis has opened up about dealing with dark scenes in the crime drama.
In his exclusive chat to Digital Spy, the Kanan Stark actor revealed: "At this point, I kind of do a disassociation thing. I think there have definitely been difficult days – whether it be for, you know, the actual hours that we're putting in, whether it be the actual content or concept of what we're shooting.
"But by the end of the day, I'm so kind of, like, depleted and I've put my all into the work and what's happening I kind of just like, base out."

Curtis, who'll return as the burgeoning drug runner in Raising Kanan season 3, elaborated: "I'm ready to go home and let it all go for the day. I don't even remember half the scenes.
"So I'm sure as I watch it, I'm like, 'Oh, yeah, I remember that. That was a little tough to get through.'"

Further along, the actor also referenced the foundations that allow him to "recenter" himself after a tough day's graft.
"Coming into this, understanding the character I'm portraying and how I'm going to have to get him there... There were mental prepared footsteps that I made. Like, 'OK, I'm sure he's gonna have to do or see wild things', and it's just having, you know, those counterbalances in place to make sure I'm able to come back and be grounded.

"That's my family; that's my studio in the back of my house just to go play music. That's me playing my PlayStation. That's just me just getting to walk away from it every day and just recenter myself and appreciate the ability to outpour my emotion in that way.
"Acting, it's therapeutic for me at times, that's why sometimes when I come home, I'm so done, because I've let go what I needed for that day," he said.
Power Book III: Raising Kanan season airs on Starz in the US and streaming on Starzplay in the UK.
