Tales of the Walking Dead shares connective tissue with the rest of the spin-off shows.
Premiering on US screens in less than a month's time, AMC's star-studded six-part anthology visited San Diego's Comic-Con this week, where executive producer Channing Powell teased how it fits into the zombie universe.
"There's Alpha [reprised by Samantha Morton], so obviously you get the return of that character.

"Then we've peppered in a little bit of something that true fans might recognise there might not but it's not, we weren't too overt about it," he continued.
In other words, keep your eyes peeled.

Branching out from The Walking Dead, other episodic adventures soon to arrive include Isle of the Dead, Rick Grimes and Michonne, and the Daryl Dixon show.
Meanwhile, actress Morton herself was also present at the famous fan convention, where she suggested there's a massive Alpha twist ahead in Tales.

"I was just honoured [to return] and then it's also like this excitement of because if you remember it for those of you that know that like a little bit of the flashbacks in The Walking Dead, I think it was season nine, they were Lydia's flashback," she began.
"So we don't know if they were true or not. So this is interesting because this is [Alpha's] perspective. [This] is who Alpha was before she becomes Alpha. And it's so excellent."

The Walking Dead season 11 airs on AMC in the US and STAR on Disney+ in the UK.
