Supernatural and The Boys star Jensen Ackles has opened up about a possible cast reunion on The Winchesters spinoff, for which he serves as the narrator and an executive producer of the prequel series.

In a new episode of the Supernatural Then and Now podcast, Ackles, who played Dean Winchester on the show, joined Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who played his father John Winchester, to look back on its second season.

On the podcast, hosted by Supernatural stars Rob Benedict and Richard Speight Jr., Ackles and Morgan discuss John and Dean's relationship, as well as some of the specifics of shooting the episode 'In My Time of Dying'.

Toward the end of the episode, Benedict asks whether Morgan could show up on The Winchesters. Ackles, for one, is definitely open to the idea.

"In my mind, we all know what happened with Spider-Man recently," Ackles said, referencing the epic return of Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire with Tom Holland in Marvel's Spider-Man: No Way Home.

"That's what I would like to see at some point: All the Johns," he added.

Supernatural is no stranger to playing with timelines, so it is a very plausible theory that the original cast members could return to reprise their beloved characters.

As Supernatural fans know, Morgan wasn't the only actor to play John Winchester. Matt Cohen also starred in the flagship series as a younger version of John (with Drake Rodger playing an even younger John on The Winchesters).

"I'm not a writer, I don't know how to write that kind of stuff, but I certainly have planted that seed," Ackles said. "So we'll see what happens."

Ackles recently opened up about the end of Supernatural during an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, "There was a reason why I think we all stuck around though, because we just truly enjoyed it. It was a family," he explained.

"I spent birthdays and we spent holidays and we went through so much together as a crew and a cast that by the end of it, it was a really sad goodbye, but something that we all felt like we really earned."

The Winchesters premieres on The CW this autumn.
