Carlos Valdes to star in new musical series

The Flash's Carlos Valdes will star opposite Parenthood and Good Girls actress Mae Whitman in Hulu's forthcoming musical rom-com show Up Here.

Valdes, who is well-known for his role in The CW superhero show and, not long ago co-starred in Starz's Gaslit, will play Miguel in the original musical from Disney Television Studios' 20th Television and Old 320 Sycamore Productions.

Set in New York City in 1999, the eight-episode series follows one ordinary couple (played by Valdes and Whitman) as they develop an attraction towards one another "and discover that the single greatest obstacle to finding happiness together might just be themselves", according to the official logline via TV Line.

They are forced to navigate the "treacherous world of memories, obsessions, fears and fantasies that live inside their heads".

Valdes is returning to his musical theatre background, an interest of his that is lesser known compared to his role as Cisco on The Flash.

In spite of being one of the most loved characters on the show, he does not appear in the eighth season of The Flash. However, having recently answered a continuing John Diggle mystery, and now teasing that a main character death will be coming soon, the series is still going strong.

The American superhero TV series, which is based on the DC Comics character Barry Allen/Flash, has also reportedly been renewed for season nine.

Last summer, Valdes exited the show, citing his health as the reason, as well as the ending of the main cast's contracts after season 7. His final episode was 'Goodbye Vibrations.'

So, fans sadly waved goodbye to Cisco – but there are surely many other adventures out there for Valdes, and Up Here is just the first.

Up Here is yet to announce a release date. The Flash airs on The CW in the US. Sky Showcase and NOW air the show in the UK.
