Harry Potter star Rupert Grint and Shadow and Bone's Ben Barnes are joining forces for Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities.

The Netflix anthology's first teaser trailer (above) doesn't provide anything in terms of storylines, but what we can appreciate is a deep sense of the gothic that pervaded the Oscar-winning director's Crimson Peak and Hellboy movies.

A worm wriggles across a half-buried skeleton, a slimy claw emerges from the dark, stuffed animals stare into oblivion and then a shadowy figure in a bowler hat approaches the camera.

Eight episodes make up Cabinet of Curiosities, with del Toro himself writing two original stories alongside a pair of HP Lovecraft (the author behind At the Mountains of Madness) adaptations.

Eager to give his series some filmmaking prestige, David Prior (The Empty Man), Jennifer Kent (The Babadook), Keith Thomas (Firestarter), Panos Cosmatos (Mandy), Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight), Vincenzo Natali (Splice), Ana Lily Amirpour (A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night) and Guillermo Navarro (Hannibal) are all on directing duties.
