Abbott Elementary actress and the show's creator Quinta Brunson has shut down fans requesting a "school shooting episode" on Twitter.
According to Brunson, multiple fans have asked for a "school shooting episode of the show" following the tragedy at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, where 21 people, including 19 young children, were killed.
"Wild how many people have asked for a school shooting episode of the show I write. People are that deeply removed from demanding more from the politicians they've elected and are instead demanding 'entertainment.' I can't ask 'are yall ok' anymore because the answer is 'no,'" wrote Brunson.

"Please use that energy to ask your elected official to get on Beto time and nothing less," she added. "I'm begging you…. I don't want to sound mean, but I want people to understand the flaw in asking for something like this. We're not okay. This country is rotting our brains. I'm sad about it."
On Tuesday (May 24) following the school shooting Brunson tweeted: "Sick to my stomach tonight over the love affair America has with guns.
"I read about gun violence often. My city and family have been affected by it. Gun violence is a constant, day after day problem. Mass shootings are only part of it. If you vote, demand more from the people you elected to change laws," she pleaded.
According to EdWeek there have been 27 school shootings in the US this year, and 119 since 2018.
In a statement from the White House US president Joe Biden urged action, calling for "common sense" gun control legislation. "I am sick and tired of it. We have to act, and don't tell me we can't have an impact on this carnage," said the president.
Abbott Elementary, which has run since 2021 on ABC, follows a group of dedicated teachers in a Philadelphia public school.
