Kayley Cuoco's Harley Quinn last aired in 2020 and fans finally have some good news as not only is the third season on its way, but its coming with a spin-off show.

HBO announced the show will return this summer while the popular Gotham dive bar, aka Noonan's, will have its own dedicated 10-episode animated series based there, currently called Noonan's.

The DC series will be led by Kite Man, voiced by Matt Oberg, and see him team up with Golden Glider (yet to be cast) as they moonlight as criminals to support their purchase of the seedy bar.

In a statement, HBO Max original comedy and adult animation EVP Suzanna Makkos said: "We love the wild and fun world of Harley Quinn so much we just had to make a spin-off, and who better to center it around than the outcast Kite Man.

"[Executive producers] Justin [Halpern], Patrick [Schumacker] and Dean [Lorey] have created the perfect local hangout for Gotham City's not-so-finest at Noonan's, where bar patrons can blow off steam after a long day of mayhem."

Meanwhile, new information about the long-awaited season 3 is also coming out. In an interview with TV Line Cuoco said: "[It's] great, it's ridiculous, it gets more and more insane."

And about Harley and Ivy's relationship she added: "They are living life, loving each other, fighting. Their relationship is the main focal point of this season, and it's hilarious and actually really, really sweet."

This tracks with comments made by Halpern in 2020 about the upcoming season. "We spent two years digging into Harley, and Ivy was her own character, but her stories were told mostly in relation to Harley," he told Deadline. "I think in this third season, it'd be interesting to flip that, and dig deeper into Ivy and her life, and tell some stories through her point of view.

"So, we're excited to be able to do that because it feels completely new – somewhere to go that we haven't gone, that isn't going to make the audience feel like, 'We saw two seasons of that. What the f**k is this?'"

Harley Quinn season 3 will stream on HBO Max in the US, while UK fans can tune in over on E4.
