Power Book IV: Force star Anthony Fleming III has opened up on his character's introduction to the show.
In the Power spin-off, protagonist Tommy Egan (Joseph Sikora) finds out he has an older, long-lost brother in Fleming's JP Gibbs.
In an exclusive chat with Digital Spy, Fleming explained he and Sikora have known each other for decades before getting to play brothers.

"I couldn't believe it," Fleming said. "You know, Joseph and I have actually known each other for over 20 years. He's from Chicago, and I'm from Chicago. And he was here. We did some theatre together. We've worked together in the past, and have always remained friends.
"So to come back and to work on this project with him, and to play his brother, a character that is so beloved by everyone; a character who had a brother in Ghost, in the original show – and we all know what happened there.

"So to come back as his brother has just been fantastic. And to be able to tell this story with Joseph has been just cake."

Fleming also said he relates to his character and was able to contribute to the way he was fleshed out.
"Once I was the person chosen to play JP, I think the writers and, you know, the EPs, kind of shaped him a little bit around— at least, I feel this way.
"I just feel such a connection to him. I would go, and I would get the scripts, and just be like, 'Wow, this really resonates with me. I really connect with this.' Because there's a lot of parallels between JP and my personal life. So stepping into this role feels very natural. It's just like… I keep saying it. It's a little cliché or whatever, but it is a dream. It really is a dream to walk around in these shoes."
Power Book IV: Force airs every Sunday on Starz in the US and Starzplay available through Amazon Prime Video in the UK, while Power Book II: Ghost seasons 1 and 2 and Power Book III: Raising Kanan are available to watch on the same streaming services.
