Euphoria star Maude Apatow has revealed what a committed actress she is, having once "ripped out a tooth" to land a role.

Speaking on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Apatow spoke about her career to date and how her interest in performing began at a young age.

She said, " I started when I was really young. I remember I always really went for it, too. I did a Gold Rush day [at school], and I wanted to look like a miner, so I ripped out my tooth."

"It was not a loose tooth at all! It was not ready to go, and I just ripped it out... I was dedicated," she joked.

Apatow was nine years old at the time of the tooth incident, and host Meyers joked, "They say people should not go Method until they're like, 12 or 13," referring to Method Acting.

Apatow plays Lexi on the hit HBO show, and used her long-time love of theatre to help her in the role.

Speaking to EW, Apatow explained how she developed Lexi's storylines for season two alongside creator and show runner Sam Levinson.

"All this stuff about Lexi getting aggro backstage, that was all just based on me in high school. We had a student-produced, directed and written show. I was the producer and I was like a tyrant."

Apatow recently revealed that she is keen to have more screen time with co-star Angus Cloud, who plays Lexi's lover Fezco.

"I love working with Angus. I think Angus is such a great actor, and we just have so much fun working together. So, for selfish reasons, I hope we get to do more scenes together because it's fun."

The relationship "feels so innocent and sweet" and is "building really slowly," Apatow added, in a stark comparison to the darkness and devastation usually seen on the show.
