New Amsterdam season 4 is about to introduce an antagonistic bartender portrayed by Adam Rose.
Via TVLine, it's been revealed that the Veronica Mars actor recently signed up for a two-episode guest spot, where he'll be giving our beloved doctors a tough time. Just quite what that entails, we'll have to wait to find out...

Elsewhere on the New Amsterdam front, the medical drama's creator David Schulner has discussed filming that devastating break-up between Leyla Shinwari and Lauren Bloom earlier on in season 4.
"We hated to do it. We hated writing it. We hated filming it," he lamented. "We love them together. But Bloom needed to pay the consequences for doing something behind Leyla's back [which was] morally questionable.

"So we had to give Bloom her comeuppance. None of us liked what we had to do, but it's what Bloom deserved, unfortunately."

Switching over to the Veronica Mars universe, showrunner Rob Thomas previously spoke of why the revival went down a darker path than many fans anticipated.
"Kristen [Bell] and I really wanted to keep doing more of these [limited, self-contained seasons], like the Sherlock and even Fargo templates. Something where, when we both have windows of availability, we can come back and do it.
"The thinking is that we need to survive as a noir detective show. And if we kept doing a show that was half teenage soap and half mystery show, the fear is it would start feeling like nostalgia," he reflected.
"Going full mystery show gives us our best chance to survive. I think there's a reason you don't see many hard-boiled detective shows where the lead detective has a boyfriend or a girlfriend; it kind of limits your options."
New Amsterdam airs on NBC in America, while Amazon Prime Video and NOW carry the show in the UK. It's also available on All4.
