Better Call Saul teaser hints at final season premiere date

Better Call Saul fans are desperately trying to decipher the recently-released teaser for the spin-off's upcoming final season – and work out when it's set to premiere in the US.

Ahead of its sixth chapter, the show took to Twitter on Monday (February 7) to share a cryptic clip, which glimpsed the murderous Cousins in their recognisable metallic suits and cowboy boots, walking through a crime scene.

The video is accompanied by a caption that instructs us viewers to "mark our calendar," and yet it never reveals an actual premiere date for the new instalment.

In it, though, the forensic scientists have laid out evidence tags bearing the letters 'D' and 'R', which has led some eagle-eyed fans to interpret that to mean that the show will return on April 18. (D is the fourth letter in the alphabet, and April is the fourth month of the year, while R is the 18th letter in the alphabet.)

April 18 is a Monday, and Better Call Saul has typically aired on Monday nights in the past, so it certainly seems like a plausible theory.

Opening up about the final season, lead Bob Odenkirk has confessed to having "very mixed feelings" about the show coming to an end.

"I don't think you can watch the show, and I can't play this guy, without growing to want him to succeed, and liking him, and wanting to be a better version of himself, is really what I want," he told us, while promoting action-thriller Nobody. "I'm not sure that's where he'll end up, though."

Fortunately, it doesn't look like we have to wait too much longer to find out either way.

Better Call Saul airs on AMC and AMC+ in the US. In the UK, it is hosted on Netflix.
