Black-ish spoilers follow.
Black-ish returned for its eighth and final season in the US last night (January 4), and the premiere featured a major cameo from none other than Michelle Obama.
The former First Lady played herself in the show, being introduced as the guest speaker at a fundraiser Dre and Bow attend. She even got along so well with the couple that they invited her over for dinner with the family later on.

Despite the rest of the Johnsons being... well, themselves... things went well, although Michelle shot down the possibility of a further dinner with her husband Barack Obama in attendance (and we assume a cameo on the show, by extension).

So how did this big cameo come about then? Well, we've all got Bow actress Tracee Ellis Ross to thank for making it happen, as she personally asked Michelle to make an appearance. Talk about connections!
"(Filming) was wonderful," the actress told WSJ Magazine. "She and I are friends. It was a phone call I made. We got to do really important subject matter that's mixed in with fun, so it's receivable. We had a ball. It felt really fun to show off what a well-oiled machine our show is.
"It felt really fun to welcome someone so special who's been so important in our world, in our culture, in the kinds of stories we told on Black-ish."
It could be one of the final guest appearances on the show, as the series is set to come to an end with season 8.
When Black-ish announced it was leaving the airwaves last May, creator Kenya Barris wrote on Twitter: "This show has changed my life in so many ways and I am so proud of the conversations we've started along the way.
"None of this would have been possible without our audience and supporters, who have championed the show every step of the journey; allowing us to change not just the narrative of Black Families, but of Family, Culture, and the World in general."
During its time, the series spawned three spin-offs in Mixed-ish, Grown-ish and Old-ish.
Black-ish streams on Disney+ in the UK.
