Shadow and Bone has officially been renewed for a second season following the success of the Netflix fantasy series' first chapter.
Netflix confirmed the news on Monday (June 7) at Netflix Geeked's first-ever Geeked Week, where a video of the show's cast confirming the news was shared too.
According to the streaming service, the show will return with eight all-new one-hour episodes in the not-so-distant future – hardly surprising news, really, given that 55 million households are said to have tuned in to Shadow and Bone within its first 28 days on the platform.

"I'm honoured and thrilled to return to the Grishaverse and continue the stories of these endearing characters, particularly Milo," showrunner, writer and executive producer Eric Heisserer joked in a statement.
What to Read Next
Based on author Leigh Bardugo's bestselling Grishaverse series, Shadow and Bone follows soldier and orphan Alina Starkov as she discovers that she possesses latent abilities that could prove the key to set her country free.
With the threat of the Shadow Fold looming, Alina is forced to give up her old life and begin training as part of an elite army of magical soldiers known as Grisha. But as she struggles to control her powers, she finds that the allies and enemies can be one and the same and that nothing in this lavish world is what it seems.
With lots of dangerous forces at play, including a crew of charismatic criminals, it will take more than magic to survive.
"I've been writing in the Grishaverse for nearly ten years now, so I'm thrilled we get to keep this adventure going," Bardugo added.
"There are so many places we've barely gotten to visit and I can't wait to introduce our audience to more of the saints, soldiers, thugs, thieves, princes, and privateers who make this world so much fun to explore.
"It's going to be real magic to see our brilliant, talented cast expand."
Shadow and Bone season one is streaming now on Netflix.
