Love, Death & Robots season 3 is officially happening!
Tim Miller and David Fincher's animated anthology series returned to Netflix for a second wave of stand-alone sci-fi stories this month (May 14, 2021), this time upping the sense of dystopian dread, but drastically reducing its number of episodes.

While the first season generously featured a whopping 18 short films for viewers to gorge on, the second run of the series was disappointingly cut down to just eight.
As a result, there was inevitably less variety in terms of animation styles the second time around, but the quality certainly didn't disappoint; 'Ice', 'Pop Squad' and 'All Through the House' have been some of the most talked-about standouts of the season.
It's a shame that season two was significantly shorter than the first – undoubtedly due to the pandemic bringing production to a halt – but there's no need to get too distraught about it, as Netflix has officially confirmed that more episodes are on their way.

Love, Death & Robots season 3 release date: When will it air on Netflix?
The streaming platform has confirmed that the anthology series will return for a third run sometime in 2022, as revealed by a sneaky tease in the season two trailer.
Netflix is yet to share a more specific release date, but given the first two seasons both arrived in late spring, it's perfectly possible that the same will happen for season three.
The first season debuted in March 2019 and the second landed in May 2021 – with a decisively annoying 26-month gap between the two.
So while season two may be considerably shorter, we can at least rest easy in the knowledge that new episodes will be with us relatively soon.
Love, Death & Robots season 2 plot: What will happen?
Since Love, Death & Robots is an anthology series, there's obviously no way of knowing what the new episodes will entail just yet. We'll have a better idea once a trailer drops, most likely a couple of months before the season is released.
It's safe to assume that the series will continue to take inspiration from a number of short stories, many of which focus on a range of adult themes, such as heavy violence, sexuality, and murderous vacuum cleaners. The name of the series is a bit of a giveaway, to be honest.
And with Philip Gelatt, who writes many of the episode scripts, likely to return for the third season, we can expect the new shorts to maintain the same feel.
Love, Death & Robots cast: Who will be in it?
Again, it's a bit early for casting details, and it's highly likely that the full line-up hasn't even been recruited yet.
What we do know is that, following the success of the first season, the series is starting to attract some major Hollywood names.
While most episodes typically feature relatively unknown actors and voiceover artists, season two managed to land Creed and Black Panther star Michael B Jordan for a frightfully life-like motion-capture episode, in which he comes face-to-face with a malfunctioning robot that attacks any sign of movement.
The first season also had its fair share of famous faces, with Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Topher Grace popping up in a live-action episode together. Orange is the New Black's Samira Wiley and Rick and Morty star Chris Parnell also featured.
