The Witcher has suffered another setback on the production of its second season as star Henry Cavill has suffered a minor injury while on set.

The Sun reports that the actor, who plays lead character Geralt of Rivia in the popular Netflix fantasy series, was 20ft high and attached to a safety harness on an assault course at Berkshire's Arborfield Studios when he suffered a leg injury.

He has reportedly been advised to rest, with Deadline writing that the actor will take a short break from filming to recover from his "minor leg muscle injury".

Filming on the show is expected to continue, with the production schedule working around Cavill and his injury.

The show has already had two breaks in production this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with the show initially halting filming in March as the UK went into lockdown.

Filming recommenced in August after the show's sets had been made COVID-secure but there was another disruption in November when four people working on set tested positive for the virus, leading the show to take another short filming break.

It is currently unclear when season two of The Witcher will hit Netflix following the delays but we're sure it will be worth the wait – and in the meantime, we have a brilliant festive teaser to enjoy.

Season two of The Witcher, which is based on the book series of the same name by Andrzej Sapkowski, will see Geralt convinced that sorceress Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) has died following the huge battle at the end of season one.

He will take Princess Cirilla (Freya Allan), a woman who is linked to Geralt by destiny, to his childhood home of Kaer Morhen, which he believes to be a safe haven.

But with the monster hunter constantly running into trouble across the Continent, can anywhere really stay safe for long?

The Witcher is now streaming worldwide on Netflix.
