The Green Lantern TV show will feature a wide variety of heroes from the Worlds of DC.

US streaming service HBO Max is working on a live-action series based on DC Comics' Green Lantern Corps, an intergalactic police force made up of representatives from each quadrant of space.

According to a new Hollywood Report piece, producers Greg Berlanti and Geoff Johns have chosen not to anchor the series on the most well-known human Lanterns — Hal Jordan, John Stewart and Kyle Rayner.

Instead, this version of the Lantern Corps will be made up of a team of other popular heroes, including Guy Gardner, Jessica Cruz, Simon Baz, Kilowog, and the original Green Lantern Alan Scott.

While Hal Jordan isn't going to appear, his nemesis Sinestro, of the Yellow Lantern Corps, will be the foil for the Green Lantern Corps in this series. There's no word yet if the Red or Orange Lanterns will appear.

A pilot Lantern script is being written by Arrowverse producer Marc Guggenheim and It: Chapter 2 producer Seth Grahame-Smith, in what is expected to be the most expensive show in production from the Arrowverse team.

Production could begin on Lantern by the middle of the next year, according to THR. There has been no casting information revealed yet.

However, director Christopher Nolan recently suggested his Tenet star John David Washington should one day play one of the Green Lanterns.

"I think [Washington] would be an excellent choice. He certainly gets my vote," the filmmaker told Geeks of Color.

HBO Max hasn't yet announced a projected release date for its 10-episode Lantern live-action TV series.
