Following its pretty shocking cancellation this week, lovers of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina have yet another reason to shed a few tears.

While thanking the Netflix teen horror's fanbase on Twitter today (July 10), showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa teased a crossover with Riverdale was coming in season 5 that'll now probably never materialise on screen – but, fortunately, it can be seen elsewhere.

"Thank you for all the love, #sabrinanetflix fans," he began his post.

He continued: "Part Four is our best yet and Part Five, 'Witch War,' would've been AMAZING. To be continued in the pages of #CAOS comic book..."

Alongside these words, he attached a shot of the crossover in comic book form, which declares: "The witches of Riverdale are coming..."

As the news of its axing spread across the internet and disappointed fans the world over, Roberto called working on the series "an incredible honour from day one".

"The cast, beginning with Kiernan as everyone's favorite teen witch, has been an absolute joy. I am beyond thankful to the crew, writers, editors, assistants, and everyone for pouring so much love into this dark dream of a show," he said.

"I'm also grateful to our partners at Netflix, Warner Bros, Berlanti Television and Archie Comics for letting us tell the story we wanted to tell, the way we wanted to tell it. We can't wait for everyone to see part four."
