Power Rangers has revealed the theme for its upcoming 28th season and it's a pretty epic one, because it's unleashing dinosaurs on the Rangers.

IGN reports that the next season will be called Power Rangers Dino Fury and it will make its debut on Nickelodeon at some point in 2021.

This marks the third time the Rangers have encountered prehistoric creatures, following 2004's Dino Thunder series and 2015's Dino Charge run.

The official Power Rangers Twitter account has dropped the first hints about what we can expect from Dino Fury, sharing a first look at the Rangers' very cool samurai-style costumes complete with swords.

It also shared the logo for the new series, which features a scary-looking dinosaur head with glowing red eyes.

What to Read Next

The synopsis for Dino Fury reads: "When an army of powerful alien beings is unleashed on Earth threatening life as we know it, a brand-new team of Power Rangers, fuelled by the prehistoric power of the dinosaurs, are recruited to deal with the threat!"

There's no word yet on which actors will be playing the Dino Fury Rangers, but no matter who they are, they'd better be ready for some top-notch fighting and flipping.

If you're keen to catch up on previous Power Rangers adventures – and there are a lot to choose from – almost every season of the show is available to watch on Netflix. So if you're starting from scratch, you've got quite a lot of catching up to do before Dino Fury hits our screens next year.

It was announced last summer that a new Power Rangers movie is in the works, although it won't feature the cast from the 2017 film, according to star Dacre Montgomery.

The actor, who is also known for his role as Billy Hargrove in Stranger Things, revealed during a Reddit AMA: "I think there is a movie in the works but it's not with me and the cast."
