There's not long to go until the end of Supernatural, and show boss Andrew Dabb has now teased the final ever episode in quite possibly the cruellest way possible.

The show returns from its mid-season break next Monday (March 16) in the US, before finishing up season 15 with its series finale on May 18.

To prepare the Winchesters' dedicated fanbase, Dabb kindly decided to tweet a picture of the finale script's last scene. Only, he cropped out everything except for the words "BLACKOUT" and "The End".

It's nice to know the script is done... but this is just harsh!

Series creator Eric Kripke did at least respond to the photo to give us an interesting fact about how he used to write the season finales when he was showrunner.

What to Read Next

"I wrote 'To Be Continued' at the end of the every #SPN ep as a good luck ritual," he tweeted.

"They couldn't cancel us, we were continuing! #SPNFamily: know what's still continuing? You. Your love for each other & the good you put in the world. If I could ask one thing, it's that: keep it up."

The final season is bringing back a number of classic characters, and most recently announced two with personal connections to Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki.

Danneel Ackles and Genevieve Padalecki will both be returning to the show, acting opposite their real-life husbands.

Supernatural season 15 airs on Thursdays at 8/7c on The CW in the US. In the UK, the show airs on E4.
