Former Vampire Diaries star Kayla Ewell is set to play a villain, as well as a potential love interest, in an upcoming episode of Batwoman.
Kayla, who played human-turned-vampire Vicki Donovan in the first few seasons of the show, will star as DC Comics' blood-sucking villain Nocturna, reports Entertainment Weekly.
In past DC comic books, Nocturna has been linked to Bruce Wayne, but in the 2011 The New 52, she has also been featured as Kate Kane's love interest.

While Kayla's take on the villain will definitely star as Batwoman's enemy, The CW hasn't revealed whether Nocturna and Kate would be romantically involved too. However, we do know she'll appear in the episode 'Drink Me', which will air in the US on February 23.
But as a blood-sucking creature, Nocturna will cause chaos in Gotham City for sure as she preys on vulnerable people in order to sustain her need for human blood.

Kayla is not the only Vampire Diaries star who's returning to The CW, as former co-star Paul Wesley is directing an upcoming episode of Batwoman.
The Stefan Salvatore actor will be overseeing Batwoman's 17th episode, and the actor has extensive experience as a director after making his first-ever directorial debut in season 5 of The Vampire Diaries. He also sat behind the camera for four more episodes before the show finished in 2017.
Wesley has also supervised Vampire Diaries spin-off Legacies, as well as other shows such as Shadowhunters, and Roswell, New Mexico.
Batwoman airs on Sundays at 8/7c on The CW in the US. UK broadcast details are yet to be announced.
