Crisis on Infinite Earths featured *another* DC movie cameo you may have missed

Note: This article contains major spoilers for Crisis on Infinite Earths: Part 5.

After eight years of build-up, Crisis on Infinite Earths has finally come to an end, so it's rather fitting that the last episode closed with another "Crisis" of sorts from yesteryear...

But first, some context. Following a mid-season break, the Arrowverse's biggest crossover yet returned to our screens with two more chapters which brought all the heartbreak and a blockbuster cameo from none other than Ezra Miller as The Flash.

That's right, DC finally managed to do what Marvel couldn't, successfully connecting its films and TV shows in a meaningful, purposeful way.

While we've always known the DCEU could technically crossover with The CW's shows, creating a full-blown DCEUCW extravaganza, few suspected that we'd ever see someone like Miller's Flash interact with Grant Gustin on TV.

What might have come as less of a surprise was Green Arrow's subsequent demise and all of the chaos that ensued. However, among all of these game-changing events, it looks like fans might have overlooked another DC movie cameo that popped up at the end of the crossover.

As the new multiverse came into existence, former salmon-ladder enthusiast Oliver Queen talked us through what was happening from beyond the grave while showing us glimpses of other worlds.

Titans, Swamp Thing, Doom Patrol and more appeared, confirming once again that all of the recent DC TV shows are connected to the Arrowverse. That's not all though. For the first time ever, longtime CW fans finally caught their first glimpse of Green Lantern in a brief clip that visited the corps HQ on Earth-12.

Unfortunately, Diggle wasn't the one wielding the ring here, even though actor David Ramsey once teased us with that possibility. In fact, no Emerald Knights appeared close-up in this scene at all, which led many to assume that it's a clip taken from Green Lantern's upcoming TV show on HBO Max.

That would have worked well as a tease, but this wasn't a preview. In fact, the footage used wasn't even new. As anyone who sat through Ryan Reynolds' Green Lantern film might remember, this brief scene actually appeared towards the end of the movie when the corps congratulate Hal Jordan for saving the day.

While Reynolds himself doesn't appear, this crossover confirms that Martin Campbell's own personal crisis from 2011 is now officially part of the Arrowverse too.

Does that mean the man otherwise known as Deadpool will switch sides and return to DC again?

Probably not. After all, Reynolds hasn't even watched Green Lantern to the end, which means he himself might not have recognised the footage if he just casually tuned into Crisis. And then there was that time he killed the hero off completely in a Deadpool 2 post-credit scene.

It's far more likely that Greg Berlanti's new Green Lantern series could connect to the Arrowverse instead. While the film took place on Earth-12, this show could potentially link up with Earth-Prime at some point, even though it's set to air on HBO Max.

If characters from the Justice League movie can race into the Arrowverse, what's stopping DC shows from other networks joining in too?

Arrow season 8 airs on Tuesdays at 9/8c on The CW in the US. In the UK, it airs on Sky One and NOW TV.
