Smallville's Tom Welling will be reprising his role as Superman for CW's upcoming Arrowverse crossover, joining Tyler Hoechlin and Brandon Routh, who will also be playing their versions of the Man of Steel.
The Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover event is brining together the three different versions of Superman, all of which come from different time periods.
Hoechlin and Routh are already part of the Arrowverse – the former playing Superman in Supergirl and the latter playing The Atom in DC's Legends of Tomorrow – so their involvement in the crossover isn't a major surprise (although Routh reprising a movie role for a TV series is particularly interesting), but Welling hasn't been involved in the CW for quite some time.

Of his casting, Arrow co-creator and executive producer Marc Guggenheim told Deadline: "For eight years, Arrow has stood on the shoulders of Smallville. Simply put, there would be no Arrow, and no Arrowverse, without it.
"So when we first started talking about Crisis on Infinite Earths, our first, second and third priorities were getting Tom to reprise his iconic role as Clark Kent. To say that we’re thrilled would be a Superman-sized understatement."
The Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover will bring together every Arrowverse series – Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman – for a massive five-episode story arc.
Crisis on Infinite Earths premieres on December 8 with the Supergirl episode, followed by Batwoman on December 9 and The Flash on December 10. Post-Christmas, the series will then conclude with Arrow and DC's Legends of Tomorrow straight after on January 14.
