Mary J. Blige may have wanted 'no more drama', but she's just signed up for a whole lot of it by joining the Power franchise.
The Grammy Award winner and Academy Award nominee has been announced as the lead for the first in a series of spin-offs of the crime drama, to be called Power Book II: Ghost (via Deadline).
Pre-production has begun on a show that Blige called "the most exciting thing that will happen to [her] this year".
"I’ve known so many Tashas, I’ve known so many Ghosts. I’ve dated so many Ghosts," she told reporters at the TCA press tour on Friday (July 26). "I’m a huge fan for life, and I’m so grateful to be a part of it."
Power Book II: Ghost is being described as "the first of a collection of series to expand the world of Power", and is designed to "continue the journey of some of Power's most controversial characters".
The spin-off was announced ahead of the premiere of the sixth and final season of Power, which STARZ confirmed at the TCAs will be split into two parts.
