Killing Eve creator and former showrunner Phoebe Waller-Bridge has revealed that she almost appeared in the hit show.

She's one of the most in-demand talents working in the industry right now following on from the success of Fleabag and Killing Eve – and she was recently hired to rejig the Bond 25 screenplay too. But it wasn't her busy diary that stopped Phoebe from filming a Killing Eve cameo.

Speaking backstage at the BAFTA TV Awards last weekend, Phoebe revealed all about how she almost became one of Villanelle's (Jodie Comer) victims.

"We talked about it! They were going to kill me!" she explained (via Radio Times). "But by the time we were writing it, I'd weirdly written myself out of the casting bracket."

Jodie Comer, who scooped the Leading Actress award for her role in the series, then joked that there's "still time" for Phoebe to be slain on screen.

Meanwhile, Jodie's acceptance speech at the BAFTAs was packed with emotion, as she personally thanked Phoebe and Line of Duty star Stephen Graham for their support.

"Pheeb, I feel so lucky not only to say that I have worked with you, but to call you a friend. You are the most talented person I know. Thank you for being such an inspiration," she said, before turning to then thank Stephen.

"Stephen, if I didn't owe you a pint before, I definitely do now. Thank you for the generosity you showed me all them years ago," she added.

Killing Eve will return to BBC One in the UK later this year.
