Bridget Jones star Renée Zellweger has an offer you can't refuse (but probably should) in the first look at her new Netflix show.

The mysterious teaser for What/If puts the Academy Award winner at the centre of a "dangerous game" offering the players the chance to live their wildest dreams – if they are willing to risk it all:

"What if I made you an offer too extraordinary to refuse?" she asks. "For anything, and anyone? To be yours for the taking."

Renee Zellweger in Netflix's What/If

What/If is being promoted by Netflix as an anthology series that will tell a new story each season about what it takes for 'acceptable people to do unacceptable things'.

In this case, cash-strapped couple Lisa (Castle Rock's Jane Levy) and Sean (Glee's Blake Jenner) are tempted into unspeakable acts by a mysterious woman (Zellweger) promising financial gain.

If that premise sounds somewhat similar to the dearly-departed Revenge, it's probably because What/If comes from that show's creator Mike Kelley.

Having Kelley at the helm is probably what convinced Zellweger to sign up for her first recurring TV role ever. What/If's impressive creative team also includes Back to the Future's Robert Zemeckis and the Worlds of DC's Charles Roven as executive producers.

The supporting cast also includes The Vampire Diaries and The Originals veteran Daniella Pineda, Westworld star Louis Herthum, The Killing's Tyler Ross and Brothers & Sisters actor Dave Annable.

What/If is set to premiere exclusively on Netflix worldwide on May 24.
