Gotham is gearing up for its final ever episode this week, in which Jim Gordon will finally adopt his classic comics look.

In a new picture from the series finale, star Ben McKenzie is seen with a moustache for the first time as the show jumps forward 10 years.

The actor recently spoke about his inevitable facial hair and admitted that it wasn't his own, joking: "Oh yeah. I had two days to grow it. And they stuck a thing on me and it looks great."

The suitably titled 'The Beginning...' will be set a decade after the events of the rest of the series, following Bruce Wayne's departure from Gotham City as Gordon becomes police commissioner.

However, David Mazouz will remain as Bruce Wayne, with a stand-in for action sequences and the actor's actual face for close-up shots.

"The face that you see under the cowl is 100% David Mazouz's face," executive producer John Stephens previously said. "We'll hear [his] voice as well, and his own Batman growl."

Gotham airs its series finale 'The Beginning...' on Thursday, April 25 at 8pm ET on Fox. No release date has been announced for the UK yet.
