Fear the Walking Dead co-showrunner Ian Goldberg has teased how Daniel Salazar will be a "changed man" in the upcoming fifth season.

The zombie drama spin-off returns on Sunday, June 2 at 9pm, though Salazar hasn't been seen on screen since season 3's explosive finale.

Chatting to Digital Spy and other media at WonderCon recently, Goldberg was asked about what fans can expect from Salazar's sudden re-emergence.

"We can say that Salazar has had an incredible journey, from where we left him at the end of season 3 to where we will find him in season 5," he explained.

"Over the course of season 5, you're going to find out where he is now, what he's been through and you're going to see how it's changed him."

Goldberg continued: "The Salazar we meet this season – of course there's history between the characters – he's a changed man. I can't say how he's changed, but there's been some real change there."

Could this be some elaborate ploy to trick us all into thinking he's still alive, when in reality he's one of the flesh-eating undead?

Now that'd be a twist. We'll have to wait until June to find out.

Fear the Walking Dead season 5 will premiere on AMC on June 2 at 9pm in the US. The show airs on AMC on BT TV in the UK.
