You's second season is adding to its impressive cast, with another Netflix stalwart signing up for the next batch of episodes.

Charlie Barnett – who plays Alan Zaveri in Russian Doll – has joined the series in a regular recurring role.

According to Deadline, the actor will play the role of Gabe, who is Love Quinn's (Victoria Pedretti) oldest friend and closest confidant. He is also a successful acupuncturist and psychedelics aficionado who lives life to the fullest.

The Haunting of Hill House's Pedretti was announced for the series earlier this year, taking on the part of Love, an aspiring chef in Los Angeles "who doesn't care about social media".

She is also tending to deep grief, and senses a shared knowledge when she meets Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley).

On top of that are James Scully (Heathers) and Jenna Ortega, who will play Love's brother and Ellie – a teenager who "grew up fast in the big city".

Need for Speed's Carmela Zumbado and Gotham's Robin Lord Taylor have also joined the ever-expanding cast.

Showrunner Sera Gamble previously said of continuing Joe's creepy story: "Part of the fun of continuing the story is that the loose ends from Joe's past are still dangling and could come back to him at any time."

She added: "If you look at every act of violence that he does in season one, that is potentially something that could come back and bite him."
