More than two years since the first season of The OA dropped on Netflix and became a surprise hit, we're finally about to dive right back into the series when The OA pt II drops this Friday.

And considering the long wait for any more information, you can bet that fans of the Netflix show are desperate for any spoilers they can get their hands on.

Lucky for the show, though, there's one cast member who's well-accustomed to keeping plot secrets and spoilers under lock and key. And now, Jason Isaacs has told Digital Spy that the experience of working on Harry Potter helped him massively when it comes to keeping secrets for this show.

What to Read Next

"It's a tough one, talking about this show," Jason, who plays the evil doctor Hap, told us.

"I don't want to spoil it for people, because I love the show, and I'm a fan of it, and I watch it, and I get taken through the labyrinth and its twists and turns, and enjoy the ride. And I know that if I tell people anything about it, they won't enjoy it as much as I do.

"People will stop you in the street... I can see it in their eyes, the same thing I used to see when I was a young amateur magician, which is: they ask you how a trick is done, and they really don't want to know.

"The worst look in the world is someone's face when you tell them how a trick is done. They go from wonder to disappointment."

The actor added that the Harry Potter team paired him with Tom Felton for the press junkets as the one more well-versed in answering tricky media questions – and he's using the same tactics when it comes to talking about The OA.

Oh, and his role in Star Trek: Discovery definitely helped too.

"I used to be paired with Tom, doing the Harry Potter publicity, for instance," he continued.

"Part of the reason is because we play father and son. The other reason is I’ve been around long enough to know that when when journalists ask you a question, you don't respond how you normally respond to a question at dinner, or if you’re out with your friends in a bar or something.

"Because we control the narrative. You don’t have to answer any question. The only things that people get to write down or print or broadcast are the things that we say.

"I understand why people want to know what’s in it, and people were desperate to know what was in Star Trek, for instance. There was a huge secrecy around that. But I also know that to tell anybody those answers would be to ruin the experience for the audience, and it’d probably get CBS or Netflix very upset as well.

"You don’t actually have to answer anything at all. It takes a few decades to learn that it’s not rude to not answer a question."

During the chat, Jason also praised The OA's creators Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij, sharing that he thinks they're "so brave" for pushing the boundaries of TV.

"I'm so used to being in a world where executives go, 'Wait a second, why don't we do this again? We did it very successfully'. And then they list 12 other shows," he added.

"There’s nobody stopping [Brit and Zal] from dreaming."

He also shared that The OA has very supportive fans, who he calls "a particularly obsessive group of fans in a fantastic way".

"I remember one woman coming up to me and going, 'Will you please tell Brit that she’s a goddess?' I said, 'I know, she’s amazing'. She went, 'No, I mean she’s a real goddess'," Jason remembered.

"Because really, apart from the fact that it's a very interesting story told in fresh ways, it's also an incredibly powerful, emotional and spiritual journey you go on unconsciously.

"I found myself moved in ways that it took me a long time to process when I watched it. There's something about the human connection between these broken characters that I hadn't appreciated while I was watching it that affected me and stayed with me."

The OA pt. II launches on Netflix on March 22.
