Gotham has teased a brutal showdown between Bruce Wayne and Bane in the show's new red-band trailer.

Recent episodes have seen Eduardo Dorrance (Shane West) impaled during a fight with James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and Theresa Walker having Hugo Strange fix him up.

As a result of the procedure and wearing a version of the iconic mask, Dorrance has been reborn as Bane and is shown taking no prisoners in the promo below:

"Barbara Kean. Your time is up," he says, as he tries to hunt down a pregnant Barbara. "You cannot run from your sins, and you cannot run from me."

Bane also fires a rocket launcher, before the final shot of the trailer sees Bruce (David Mazouz) charging at the villain.

Unfortunately, Bane easily grabs Bruce and slams him to the ground...

Does Bane break Bruce's back?

A previous teaser for the episode suggested that Alfred (Sean Pertwee) could be the one whose back gets broken.

We'll find out what happens when the episode airs in the US next week on March 21.

Mazouz previously revealed how he wants the series to end, with every character as their "full-blown" comic book counterpart.

"I'd love for that last shot to be Bruce putting on the Batsuit," he said in January 2018. "That's just my personal preference, but I don't know if that's allowed or realistic. I don't know what's actually going to happen."

Showrunner John Stephens said that Bruce will "go all the way" towards becoming Batman in the final episodes, donning a new suit as he comes ever closer to wearing the cape and cowl.

Gotham season 5 airs on Fox in the US. No release date has been announced for the UK yet.
