The final countdown for Gotham has begun, as the show is just three episodes away from its conclusion.
In a new promo trailer for season 5 episode 10, deadly villain Bane (Shane West) breaks Alfred's back, and we're more than a little concerned about the destiny of Batman's greatest ally.
Gotham has seemingly decided to do its own version of Bane shattering Batman's back (as in the classic comic book storyline) and you can watch the dramatic scenes previewed below.
The horrifying break doesn't look like something Alfred will recover from easily – but Sean Pertwee's character has some important duties ahead as Bruce Wayne's butler and legal guardian, so we'll have to wait and see.
In other Gotham news, West recently revealed that he was originally tapped to play Mr Freeze on the series, but due to scheduling issues that didn't work out, the role went to Nathan Darrow instead.

"We had a little bit of a go with Mr Freeze actually," West told Comicbook.com.
"I was excited about that because obviously another iconic Batman villain and once again, at that point, I had never played anyone yet.
"But I think because I was on Salem and I think the guy who did it was much more right for the role than I was anyway, but I think that it helped things just not working out and then a couple years go by or probably three or four, I'm not even sure of the timeline, but all of the sudden, coming back with something like Bane felt like, 'Wow, I think waiting was the right choice'."
Gotham season 5 airs on Fox in the US. No release date has been announced for the UK yet.
