Any Walking Dead fans still reeling from Rick Grimes and Maggie Rhee's departures might want to sit down… because another major cast member is on the verge of leaving.

The latest veteran cast member on their way out of the zombie apocalypse will be Danai Gurira, who has decided to quit her role as Michonne on a full-time basis, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The outlet reports that Gurira has decided leave after a handful of episodes spread throughout the recently-ordered tenth season of The Walking Dead. AMC declined to comment.

However, we mentioned she was only leaving her role as Michonne on a full-time basis because Gurira will then switch over to the three spin-off movies reuniting her with former co-star Andrew Lincoln.

The hope of Rick and Michonne potentially being reunited in these spin-offs should soften the blow of Gurira leaving the main show.

Last year, showrunner Angela Kang admitted that there was a possibility of Gurira quitting the series after the ninth season but hoped she could be convinced to stick around.

"We just know that we have lots of story we want to tell with Michonne," she said at the time.

Although the loss of Michonne in the main show will have a huge creative impact, her former co-star Lauren Cohan revealed this week that she's had talks about returning to The Walking Dead universe, potentially for her own spinoff.

"There may have been some conversations, but everything is so early-days ambiguous," she said. "Me, as much as anybody, we'll have to see what happens."
