Friends star Alexandra Holden has claimed that she was told to look "as hot as possible" during her audition for the show.

Holden starred as Ross' girlfriend Elizabeth Stevens in season 6, with Bruce Willis playing her father, Paul Stevens.

Speaking to The Guardian, Holden said: "I got called in to do a 'chemistry read' with David Schwimmer.

"It was terrifying because the producers told me to come in looking 'as hot as possible'. I didn't know what to do with that information.

"It sent me into a tailspin. I stayed up all night trying to figure out what to wear… Now that I'm older, I wouldn't be happy getting that message."

Friends had the highest share of binge sessions over the course of the year, based on analysis of 12 million registered TV Time app users worldwide.

Elsewhere, the iconic '90s series is extremely popular with kids under 16 since it started streaming on Netflix, according to a Childwise Monitor report.
