One of the stars of Saved by the Bell has said that the cast don't make money from the show now because of "bad deals".

Mark-Paul Gosselaar played the role of Zack Morris on the teen show, though admitted that he and his fellow castmates don't get any significant pay from repeats now.

"We made really bad deals," he said on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen (from 7:20 in the video below). "Poor deals, back then. It is what it is. You move on, you learn. Great experience."

The same cannot be said of the cast of fellow '90s show Friends, who apparently make a hell of a lot of money from re-runs.

Gosselaar also explained what it was like to watch episodes of Saved by the Bell today, adding: "When I watch the episodes, it's like a new experience for me.

"I don't remember, I wasn't sentimental, I didn't take anything from the set. My 14 and 12-year-old are watching it. They're kind of like, 'Eh...' They're unimpressed. But they're unimpressed about everything."

Meanwhile, it emerged last year that Saved by the Bell was set for a revival... in the form of a musical, according to popstar Debbie Gibson.

"I was actually at one point turning it into a musical," she said. "So I would say bring it back and turn it into a really kitschy, catchy musical!"

Gibson claimed that she and producers "had talked about composing and writing lyrics" and that she recently found a draft of the script in her garage.

"I went, 'Oh my god, this is still a great idea'," the singer added. "People love nostalgia. It's not happening, but we're re-opening it [with this conversation]."
