Gotham is going to kick off the new year with its fifth and final season, which promises to be its most explosive one yet. Quite literally.
As we see in this latest trailer for season five, lots of things are going boom. As an adaptation of the 'No Man's Land' storyline from the comics, we see Gotham sectioned off from the rest of the world in scenes similar to The Dark Knight Rises.
There's also the appearance of back-breaking villain Bane, here played by Shane West.

It's not just Bane that Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) and James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) have to worry about, as practically all of Batman's famous rogues gallery are here: Catwoman, The Riddler, Harley Quinn and The Joker, Penguin, Scarecrow, Condiment King...
Although it looks like the villains are out to get each other as much as they are out to get our future caped crusader. In typical villain fashion, they'll stab each other, shoot each other, and, uhhh, name their dogs after each other.
What to Read Next
Once this show wraps up, there is already another Batman prequel in the works. Titled Pennyworth, it will centre on none other than Alfred, funnily enough.
Gotham returns to Fox on January 3 in the US. E4 airs the show in the UK, although it is also all available to watch on Netflix.
