Even though the American Horror Story: Apocalypse finale seemed like the final battle between the Coven and the forces of evil, the witches will most definitely be back.
That development comes directly from American Horror Story co-creator Ryan Murphy, who had both good and bad news for fans of the Coven while getting his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
“The witches will be back,” he confirmed to Entertainment Tonight, although he quickly tamped down expectations: “Not next season though!”
Murphy went on to tease: “We have something really fun planned [with the next season].”
The writer did sneakily set up a new enemy for the Coven in one of the alternate timelines created during the American Horror Story: Apocalypse finale, with the birth of a new Antichrist.

Fans have plenty more opportunity to see that battle play out. As Murphy mentioned, he’s already working on a ninth season to debut next year.
Plus, FX already ordered a tenth season as well — with the proviso that it might end up as the finale of American Horror Story.
“It comes down to whether Ryan and his collaborators like [executive producer] Tim Minear could come up with stories that they are excited about,” FX boss John Landgraf said of a future beyond that point.
