Matt Edmondson may have missed last night's (September 3) Xtra Factor when his wife went into labour, though he was very much back in the fold tonight.

Well just about, as he revealed that he has "not slept in 36 hours" at the beginning of the show.

However, co-host Rylan Clark-Neal was keeping him in good spirits, bringing a baby doll on air as the two introduced the show. He also hilariously brought the doll back in throughout the show.

It seems it's been an emotional 24 hours for the both of them, as Matt revealed that Rylan cried when he heard the news about the baby.

Rylan revealed the news about Matt's new daughter live on The Xtra Factor last night, presenting the show solo in his co-presenter's absence.

Let's hope Matt gets some much-needed sleep tonight then.

The Xtra Factor airs on ITV2.
