Everyone and their aunt may be reporting that Sir Bradley Wiggins has quit The Jump after tearing his calf muscle – but this is NOT true.

The 36-year-old Olympic gold medalist suffered a low blow after Sunday night's live launch show when he tore his calf muscle during the high-speed parallel slalom event.

Despite being struck by injury for the second time in one week and reports that he "didn't know" if he'd be back for another episode, Channel 4 told us: "Bradley has received treatment for an injury to his leg, but he remains in the competition."

Last week, Sir Bradley brought fans into the training room for an Instagram photo confirming an ankle injury he picked up in practice sessions for The Jump.

"The show must go on," he wrote.

Vogue Williams bowed out of The Jump even before the first live show due to a knee injury, despite being touted as one of the favourites to win this series.

Over the weekend, Vogue revealed that she's already keen for a comeback in the future, saying: "I'm really hoping that the show comes back next year because I would jump at the chance of being on it again."

Former Big Brother winner Josie Gibson was the first contestant eliminated on The Jump on Sunday, days after she'd also been hurt during a practice run in the snow-capped Austrian mountains.

Aside from his injury, Sir Bradley made news during The Jump's series premiere for accidentally swearing on live TV while mocking the Daily Mail. Presenter Davina McCall subsequently made an apology on his behalf on air.

The Jump continues on Sunday night (February 12) at 7.30pm on Channel 4.
