The I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! contestants may claim they are entering the jungle for all kinds of character-building reasons but the majority are in there for one thing and one thing only – cold hard cash.

Of course, some stars are able to demand far more than others. Here's a look at ten (reported) eye-opening fees which suddenly make the prospect of spending three weeks in the Australian outback eating kangaroo penis seem rather appealing.

10. Sheryl Gascoigne ("£95,000", 2010)

You have to applaud Sheryl Gascoigne's negotiation skills.

The ex-wife of troubled England legend Gazza was reportedly only offered £25,000 to appear in I'm a Celebrity's tenth season at first. But after some toing and froing, she was eventually given almost four times that amount – more than Olympic gold medallist Linford Christie, indie pop legend Shaun Ryder and future national sweetheart Stacey Solomon.

And her deal was made even sweeter by the fact she was the first campmate to be voted out of the jungle and therefore only had to work 12 days for her money.

9. Rebekah Vardy ("£100,000", 2017)

In 2008 Nicola McLean, wife of Football League journeyman Tom Williams, was reportedly given a relatively paltry £7.5k to star in the reality show. And fellow WAG Carly Zucker, the future spouse of Chelsea winger Joe Cole, didn't fare much better, apparently receiving just £10,000 in the same season.

But by 2017, I'm a Celebrity salaries had become almost as inflated as the Premier League's, and as a result Rebekah Vardy, wife of Leicester City's title winner Jamie, was apparently able to pocket a slightly ridiculous £100,000.

8. Jimmy Bullard ("£100,000", 2014)

Fair play to Jimmy Bullard. The former Wigan Athletic, Hull City and Fulham midfielder – hardly a household name – admitted that he would have been quite happy to dig deep into his own pockets to take part in its fourteenth season.

And yet instead of taking him up on his offer, the show's producers offered Bullard a tidy £100k. Perhaps they were expecting his cheeky-chappy persona to guide him to victory.

But instead audiences soon got tired of his relentless banter and he was eliminated first, ahead of such popular figures as Edwina Currie.

7. Susannah Constantine ("£200,000", 2015)

Susannah Constantine sure knows how to make the most money from doing the least amount of work when it comes to reality TV.

Three years before being eliminated first in her season of Strictly Come Dancing, the fashion guru also exited I'm a Celebrity at the first hurdle having secured the least amount of viewer votes.

And the former What Not to Wear presenter, it seems, bagged a cool £200,000 for her rather forgettable 13 days in the jungle.

6. Jennie McAlpine ("£250,000", 2017)

The silly money continued in 2017 with Jennie McAlpine, aka Corrie's Fiz, bagging no less than a quarter of a million pounds for her three-week stint in the outback, according to reports.

This was ten times the amount of fellow contestants Shappi Khorsandi and Jack Maynard, the latter of whom lost his fee altogether when he proved to be more troublesome than first thought.

5. Spencer Matthews ("£300,000", 2015)

Spencer Matthews was unlikely to have received anywhere near the six-figure sum stated in the press, which ranged from £300k right up to a half million.

Indeed, the Made in Chelsea star lost out on his big payday when he was removed after just three days following a row about his use of steroids.

But still, his reported offer once stood as the highest for a male campmate in I'm a Celebrity history.

4. Katie Price ("£350,000", 2009)

As Britain's most famous glamour model, Katie Price raked in a considerable sum when she first entered the jungle back in 2004. But that figure was a pittance compared to the colossal £350,000 she reportedly received for her second stint five years later.

Indeed, having played out a marriage and divorce to Peter Andre in front of the tabloids, become a best-selling author and making a bid for Eurovision glory while dressed in a "pink condom", the artist formerly known as Jordan was a much bigger deal in 2009.

That also meant she was a much bigger target for the great British public, and after being voted to partake in seven consecutive Bushtucker Trials, The Pricey decided enough was enough and packed her bags.

3. Amir Khan ("£400,000", 2017)

Price's six-figure sum stood as an I'm a Celebrity record for eight years before a British boxing legend agreed to swap the ring for reality TV for an extra £50,000.

Amir Khan may have only finished in fifth place, but ITV will probably believe they got their money's worth.

Not only did the Olympic silver medallist last the distance. But he also provided most of his year's drama thanks to his Bushtucker Trial screams, snake-like behaviour and involvement in the biggest dessert-based reality TV scandal since The Great British Bake Off's Bin-gate.

2. Harry Redknapp ("£500,000", 2018)

The man once tipped as England manager has been busy cleaning out dunnies in the Aussie outback.

Only time will tell whether Harry Redknapp will justify the reported half-a-million-pound sum that ITV paid for his signature in this year's series.

But in his first week, the former Bournemouth, Spurs and West Ham boss has provided his fair share of entertainment, regaling his campmates with tales about failing to recognise Prince Harry, failing to recognise Princess Beatrice and failing to stop driving over his wife's ankle.

1. Noel Edmonds ("£600,000", 2018)

Redknapp only held the highest I'm a Celeb fee record for a matter of moments.

Indeed, although he's missed almost the entire first week, Noel Edmonds has reportedly been paid a whopping £600,000 to grace the same series with his beardy presence.

Whatever happens over the next week, you can't argue with Edmonds' dedication. The former Deal or No Deal host has admitted to eating a number of garden worms in preparation for any eating trials he may be forced to participate in.

I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! airs nightly on ITV.
