Love Island is, arguably, the most popular reality TV show of recent times.

Having smashed records throughout the 2018 series, the new format (which was relaunched in 2015 after the early '00s celebrity version) is showing zero signs of slowing down.

With all this in mind, you can hardly blame ITV bosses for trying to squeeze as much Love Island magic out as they can – leading to quite the list of spin-off shows.

Most recently, it's been revealed that 2017 sweetheart Camilla Thurlow has landed her own TV show, and it's been widely reported that 2018 winners Jack Fincham and Dani Dyer have been filming something with ITVBe.

We can't rank these two just yet, considering they've not aired, but we can take a long hard look at the seven spin-offs that are left...

7. Love Island: Heading Home (2016)

This one has to take last place.

The constant drama of series two ensured that the show made headlines throughout the summer of 2016. It was the year of Malin Andersson and Terry Walsh and the controversial de-crowning of Miss Great Britain Zara Holland.

Bosses cottoned on to the fact that viewer interest extended way beyond each islander's exit –whether it was dramatic splits or off-screen confrontations, the people wanted to know what happened next.

This one-hour special was designed to document these aftermath moments, setting up cameras in the homes of former islanders (so we could watch Malin watching Terry as he continued to flirt up a storm in the villa without her) and, of course, documenting the goings on of the wrap party.

On paper, it was exactly our type. But in practice, it just didn't work.

Viewers were quick to point out that parts felt a little 'staged', with some even branding the scenes "cringey".

And they might have been right, because the format has not been repeated.

6. Straight Outta Love Island (2017)

Love Island might be all about the romance, but viewers fell head-over-heels for Chris and Kem's bromance during series three. It made total sense for them to get their own spin-off show.

Sadly, Straight Outta Love Island was as awkward as the title suggested it would be.

Following on from their debut single (yes, that really happened) cameras followed them on their musical journey.

Stormzy may have given them his seal of approval, but the fact that they haven't released any 'rap' material since probably says everything that needs to be said about that particular venture.

5. Love Island: The Reunion (2018)

This tried to learn lessons from its predecessor, Heading Home, taking things into the studio with host Caroline Flack.

Once again trying to capture the aftermath of some of the summer's more dramatic talking points, The Reunion saw Samira Mighty being cornered over the rumours circling now-ex Frankie Foster.

And things (once again) got awkward for "loyal" Georgia Steel, as reports of beef with Megan Barton Hanson were dragged up.

Footage from the finalists' first days back in Blighty were also peppered throughout the goings on of the studio, largely focusing on the couples returning to their homes around the UK.

4. Survival Of The Fittest (2018)

This may not have been an official spin-off per se, but it was widely dubbed the 'winter Love Island' in the press (something that ITV themselves didn't appear to have any qualms about) and it filled the seasonal gap left behind by the summer show.

The format confused viewers somewhat, and it was axed after the first season.

One good thing came of it though: Dani Dyer was introduced as part of the original line-up, but had to be sent home early due to an injury. Thankfully, she returned for the next season of Love Island – and became the nation's sweetheart while she was at it.

3. You vs Chris and Kem (2018)

Proving that these two are TV gold when given the right format, Chris and Kem's second spin-off show seemed to hit the right note.

The ITV2 show saw viewers taking on the Love Island duo in a series of spontaneous, and often hilarious, challenges.

This show was such a hit, that it has been recommissioned for a new run in 2019.

2. Chris and Olivia: Crackin' On (2018)

One of series 3's most talked-about couples, their fiery relationship was the catalyst for most of the villa's arguments in 2017.

It was a pretty divisive pairing; a lot of Love Island fans shipped them, but many believed that they just weren't right for each other.

This laid the groundwork for a spin-off show, following the couple around as they settled back into the UK. It may have been difficult to watch at times (their tumultuous bickering certainly didn't stop after Love Island) but it did offer more of an insight into each of them as individuals.

The series was cut short when the pair decided to put an end to their relationship. But Olivia Attwood came out of it with a whole new legion of fans, and has since enjoyed a stint on Celebs Go Dating.

1. Love Island: Aftersun (2017 - now)

Announced off the back of the increasing success of the hit dating show, Aftersun is the weekly spin-off hosted by none other than Caroline Flack.

Giving series exclusives and discussing hot topics with a batch of celebrity guests, it's a proven formula that's become an integral part of the Love Island experience.

Love Island will return to ITV2 in 2019.
