Emotions have naturally been running high in the Big Brother house as the show moves steadily towards its conclusion – and last night's episode was no exception.

As if the housemates didn't have enough to process with the ejection of Lewis from the house – a decision which incited shock, confusion, and anger from housemates and viewers alike – as well as Tomasz's eviction, it was Sian, Cameron and Zoe who were in for even more of an emotional rollercoaster as they received letters from loved ones watching at home.

After so much time apart from family, it was just too much for everyone, with the reading of the letters out loud reducing most of them to adorably gibbering wrecks.

Sian received a letter from her son Archie, dutifully read to her by Akeem, which read: "Hello mummy, I've been such a good boy at school, I received a certificate for my hard work and good behaviour. I can write my name and numbers, I'm a big boy now Mummy.

"Love you lots and lots xxxxx Archie xxxxx."

Next up was Cameron's letter, from his family. Cian took up the reins for this one, reading: "We are all missing you like crazy, which obviously goes without saying... you are being you, not fake and we love you for it.

"EVERYONE loves you so much, keep strong, love the whole family xxxxx."

For his part, Cameron was deeply moved, saying: "No matter what happens, at least I have a family."

Finally, Brooke barely managed to read Zoe's letter, written by her son Junaid.

"I can't wait to see you and I really hope you win, but if you don't I'll still be really proud of you because you've tried your best, and that's all that matters. I love you to the moon and back, love Naid," wrote her son.

It's been a long road to the final 10 days for the remaining six housemates – so who can blame them for a bit of catharsis?

Big Brother airs on Channel 5. The next episode is Monday (October 29) at 10pm.
