Less than a week after becoming one of the few entertainers to earn the coveted title of EGOT winner (that's an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar *and* a Tony), John Legend has been named the newest coach of NBC's The Voice for season 16.
"I'm thrilled to join the coaches of The Voice," Legend said in a statement.
"I've been a guest and mentor on the show multiple times and I'm so excited to discover talented singers and help them make the most of their gift. I hope the world is ready for #TeamJL."
Legend also reacted to the news of joining the singing competition show on Twitter on Thursday (September 13).
"So excited!" he wrote.
Legend appeared on The Voice in 2016 as a guest performer and sang a duet of his single 'Love Me Now' with finalist Wé McDonald, and as mentioned in his statement, he has also mentored contestants in the past.

But this time, the musician will take a seat in one of the spinning red chairs alongside returning coaches Kelly Clarkson, Blake Shelton and Adam Levine.
Paul Telegdy, president of the alternative and reality group at NBC Entertainment, praised Legend's accolades in a statement.
"John Legend is a one-of-a-kind musician and producer with remarkable skills that are beyond measure," he said. "His multi-dimensional career and incredible talents provide a repertoire that will excite and inspire our artists. This coaching panel is sure to ignite season 16."
Over the weekend, Legend became the first African-American man to become an EGOT winner.
Aside from his 2018 Emmy win for his work on Jesus Christ Superstar, he has 10 Grammy Awards, an Oscar for his song 'Glory', featured in the movie Selma, and a Tony for his work as co-producer for the Broadway production of Jitney.
Looks like Clarkson, Shelton and Levine will have major competition next season.
