The Voice Kids, complete with its brand new format, has made its return to ITV.

The all-star line-up of coaches includes Pixie Lott (who mentored the winning act from last year's series), Danny Jones and The Voice royalty will.i.am.

It's fair to say that the talent has really stepped up a notch for series two, which we didn't think would be possible. Viewers already believe they might have spotted a winner, and other stand-out performances include a Coronation Street actor's daughter, who sadly didn't make it through, and 'inspirational' Phoebe who wowed with her rendition of 'With You' from the musical Ghost.

Presenter Vick Hope, who joins the show after a stint on the adult version, revealed in an exclusive chat with Digital Spy: "It's such a nice show... such a warm show. There's something about the fact that they're kids, and even if they get a knock back... They've got their whole life ahead of them, and they're extremely talented. So nothing is negative."

Speaking of the judges and how they each bring their own expertise to the table, she said: "They're quite hands-on, the coaches. A lot of them work in different ways. But yeah, they work and they mentor and they help with what songs they should pick, and how they should stage it.

"Will's really good at staging. Pixie's really good at dancing. They all bring something different, which is why they're on the team they want to be on."

will.i.am has made no secret of the fact that his future on the show in uncertain, previously revealing that he's looking to get back to making music.

"I don't know anything about [it] – I would assume those conversations have begun, but nothing will be confirmed at this point, I'm certain," Hope explained.

"It would be a huge hole in The Voice machine because he's been there right from the beginning," Vick said of his possible exit. "He's one of the OGs."

We couldn't agree more.

The Voice Kids continues tonight (July 19) at 8pm on ITV.
