McFly's Danny Jones, who's one of the judges on The Voice Kids, has revealed that the coaches are going to be more critical this season – because the level's going to be even higher than before.

"We knew what the level of talent was going to be like from the last series, so we were a bit harsher," he told Metro during a recent interview.

The musician then added: "The talent is unbelievable. We want that level of talent this time to be as good as the final was last time, but right from the start.

"We'd never done the show before – like me and Pixie didn't know what it would be like.

"We were like, 'Yeah we know what's good', but you don't know what we're looking for. Now we've got experience, we feel like we own that chair a little more now."

"They're doing it for the love of it, I'm doing it for the love of it, I think it shows. I wouldn't have that energy that I have otherwise."

Danny will be joined in those iconic swivelling chairs by will.i.am and Pixie Lott, who'll also be on the lookout for talented young singers who might end up making it big.

The new series of The Voice Kids will begin on Saturday, July 14 on ITV at 8pm.
