After a long, hard week of Love Island single life, Alex George finally went on a date in last night's episode. Hurrah!
Viewers saw the new contestants Megan Barton Hanson, Josh Denzel and Charlie Frederick all pick three Islanders to go on a picnic speed date with. Megan decided to pick Alex, as well as Niall Aslam and Eyal Booker (more on that later).
Understandably, Alex experienced a case of first date jitters. Totally normal, pal, let alone when you're having this date in front of more than 2.5 million people.
So, what's the best way to counteract these nerves? Giving yourself a little pep talk. No harm in that.
After hearing he'd been picked, Alex went up to the bedroom to get ready and gave himself some encouraging words along the lines of: "Pretty chuffed to have a chance," "Come on Alex," and, "Don't cock this up."
This, combined with the bad dating luck he's had so far plus the adorableness of his trainer socks, naturally sent viewers into a meltdown.

Heartbreakingly, despite the pep talk, Megan was not really into Alex and just wants to be mates instead. Fair enough. She also then kissed Eyal, who decided to tell Alex about it.
